What is Maple Leaf Classic?
Maple Leaf Classic is an annual bowling tournament that takes place in Toronto every August. It is one of the many tournaments that make up the International Gay Bowling Organization, or IGBO as it is known around the world. IGBO believes in Unity, Fellowship and Communication and strives to become the sports membership of choice for the gay community worldwide. Distinguished as being one of the original 6 founding member cities in 1980, Toronto continues its association along with over 200 member leagues and tournaments worldwide.
The annual Maple Leaf Classic (MLC) tournament attracts people from all over Canada, the United States and even as far away as Australia & New Zealand. All of these countries are affiliated with IGBO and through advertising in that organization MLC draws upwards of 230 LGBT persons, friends and family to Toronto every year.
This year on August 9-11, 2013 the Maple Leaf Classic tournament will celebrate its 26th anniversary. While the weekend event will predominately focus on bowling, we will also host many other festivities such as great raffles, evening hospitality parties, incredible fundraising events, a stellar awards banquet and an amazing closing party.
The Web Site has some great informtion for you to plan your visit. Come for the weekend or book a vacation. For returning bowlers you know how much there is to do in and around Toronto. New visitors will find great ideas for just a short stay or long visit.
